je viens d'apprendre sur le Yahoo group que la date de l' émission de la BBC avait été changé, d'aprés Dickie ce serait maintenant le 21 Février.
A confirmer.

Finalement l'émission de la BBC sur GENE sera bien diffusée le 14 Février entre 19h et 20h heure anglaise , on pourra soit l'écouter en direct sur BBC RADIO 2 soit la retrouver en différé pendant une semaine sur le net.

Gene Vincent was one of the first archetypal rock 'n' roll singers; his is a tragic story of excessive drink, drugs, women, fast motorbikes, horrific accidents and death at an early age. He was only 36 when he died in 1971 and his later years had not been hugely successful in terms of his musical career; but his early years have ensured him a place amongst the greats of pop music. Songs like Woman Love, Bluejean Bop, Race with the Devil, Who Slapped John, Catman and Be-Bop-a-Lula have become classics, and not just for Gene's voice, but for the musicianship of his band, the Blue Caps. His stage shows and 'dangerous' image, assisted by his trademark leather outfit, greatly influenced artists like Lennon and McCartney, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, Alvin Stardust and Eric Burdon. He went on to star in films and to make several country and folk rock albums with artists like Linda Ronstadt, but nothing quite matched the effect of those early recordings. This programme, presented by Roger Daltrey, focuses on the late '50s and early '60s and his influence on the British pop scene then and now. Interviewees include Eric Burdon, Ray Davies, Alvin Stardust, Fall frontman Mark E Smith, Spencer Davis, guitarists Albert Lee and Adam Seymour, Doors drummer John Densmore, classic rocker Jerry Lee Lewis and Blue Caps Tommy Facenda and Dickie Harrell. Family members who feature include Gene's sister Tina Craddock and his daughter Sherri Vincent. There are extracts from Rex Weiner's play, Be Bop A Lula, produced originally by Adam Ant and Lori Depp in various venues along Sunset Strip. The play, set in England in 1960, is about the relationship between Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran on their last tour before Cochran's death in a car crash. There is also an interview with biographer John Collis, archive material from Gene Vincent himself and some newly recorded tribute songs created by Sherri Vincent.

Oui, c pourtant bien son nom de naissance, ça fait bizarre d'avoir la chance de porter ce nom et ne pas l'utiliser comme tout ceux qui peuvent le faire, meme Tina ne le comprend pas

I heard the BBC documentary .
It was very good to understand,ofcourse a lot of important Things to talk are missed in this Documentary,but Im not too disapointed.This is normal for Documentary they always pick out a few special Things what they Think People want to hear .
Sure a lot of Storys about Gene's drinking and Guns. For me they forget the most Important Thing to talk about " His Voice"
But at the End of the Documentary Tina said wonderful emotional Words about Gene!
